Productive fishing and remarkable wildlife encounters combined for another strong week at Pirarucú. The group landed 112 fish, including arapaima, tambaqui, and arowana, with all three species adding variety to the water and keeping the fishing dynamic throughout the week.
Beyond the casts and battles, the surrounding environment became an important part of the story. Giant caimans appeared along the waterways, diverse birdlife accompanied days on the river, and encounters with Amazon primates added another dimension to the experience. Among them was the distinctive red uakari, locally known as macaco-uacari, one of the remarkable species found in the Mamirauá Reserve.
Weather Conditions
Weather remained stable throughout the week, with only a few hours of rain. The brief showers did not interrupt the fishing schedule, allowing anglers and guides to make full use of the days on the water.
River Conditions
Water levels stayed highly favorable for fishing, giving guides consistent access to productive areas all week. Stable conditions created good opportunities to locate fish across the fishery.

Highlights of the Week
Strong Fishing Across Three Species
The group of 3 anglers finished the week with 112 fish, including 18 arapaima, 32 tambaqui, and 62 arowana.
Arapaima delivered the power and scale that define Pirarucú, while tambaqui added their characteristic strength and arowana kept the action visual and active. The balance between the three species made for a particularly varied week of Amazon fly fishing.

Wildlife Beyond the Fishing
Some of the most memorable moments happened between casts.
Large caimans, abundant birdlife, and primates appeared throughout the week, including encounters with the red uakari, locally known as macaco-acari. Squirrel monkeys and other small primates also added to the diversity surrounding the anglers each day.
These encounters reminded us that fishing at Pirarucú unfolds in one of the Amazon’s most distinctive natural environments, where the experience on the water extends far beyond the fish themselves.
Looking Ahead
With water levels remaining favorable and weather conditions stable, the fishery continues to offer strong opportunities as the season moves forward. Guides will keep working the productive areas and adapting their approach as conditions evolve.
Week 6 showed another side of Pirarucú: productive fishing surrounded by the wildlife and biodiversity that make every day on these waters different.
