Pirarucú Lodge Fishing Report 2025 | Worldwide Anglers, Memorable Battles Week 4 September 8–14

The lodge welcomed a diverse group of anglers from around the world, including new friends from Sweden, Idaho, and South Carolina, alongside our longtime guest Jeff and our first visitor from Japan, Itchiro. It was a fantastic mix of experienced anglers and newcomers, all united by a deep respect for the arapaima and the Amazon environment.

Fishing improved steadily throughout this start, and the dedication of our guests was rewarded with unforgettable encounters. Arapaima delivered their signature explosive power, while the variety of other species added even more color to the adventure. Every fish fought and every photograph taken became part of a shared memory that will last far beyond the river.

________

WATER CONDITIONS

The water remained high but was dropping quickly, and clarity stayed clean—creating increasingly favorable conditions with each passing day.

WEATHER CONDITIONS

The Amazon delivered classic heat with daily temperatures averaging 35°C (95°F). Most days were bright and sunny, with just two light afternoon rain showers providing brief relief.

________

WEEKLY STATS

• Total number of Arapaima landed: 24
•
Biggest fish landed: 190 cm (6.2 feet) Arapaima
• Other species: 23 Tambaqui and 34 Arowana

 ______

UNFORGETTABLE MOMENT

The largest arapaima of the period was landed by Hannes, measuring 190 cm. Beyond the giants, one of the most exciting aspects was the opportunity to target tambaqui on the fly. Their strength and unpredictability left no doubt that they rank among the toughest fish in the jungle. Side-casting for this species gave our anglers a unique challenge and showcased the incredible diversity of Pirarucú.

LOOKING AHEAD

With water levels dropping quickly, conditions are shifting in our favor. Every day promises more opportunities for anglers to connect with the giants of the Mamirauá Reserve and discover the remarkable variety of species that make Pirarucú one of the most extraordinary destinations in the Amazon.
