Pirarucú Lodge Fishing Report 2025 | Colors of the Season, Giants of the Flooded Forest Week 11 | November 5–13

The rapid rise in water levels reshaped the entire fishery during this period. As new water flowed into the forest, arapaima dispersed into recently flooded edges, becoming more unpredictable and requiring more precise reading of structure and movement.

Arowana delivered reliable action, especially during the calm, glassy mornings, especially at the surface. Tambaqui, however, spread widely as the water rose, becoming harder to locate and requiring persistence to target. Despite the challenges, anglers who adapted to shifting conditions found memorable moments and powerful encounters.

________

WATER CONDITIONS

Water remained clear across most regions, showing a soft green tint in deeper channels. Levels rose quickly throughout the period, flooding new pockets along the forest edge and pushing fish into fresh, hard-to-reach zones.

WEATHER CONDITIONS

Temperatures ranged from 31°C to 34°C (88°F–93°F), with bright and calm mornings followed by consistent light rain in the late afternoons. These shifts brought cooler air and subtle changes in fish activity.

________

WEEKLY STATS

 • Total number of Arapaima landed: 38
• Other species: 17 Tambaqui and 82 Arowana

 ______

UNFORGETTABLE MOMENT

The most remarkable feature of this period was not only the size of the arapaima, but their breathtaking coloration. As the season transitions into the early reproductive cycle, males turn a vivid, intense red. Watching these fish glow through the water—color deepening with each movement—is one of the most striking natural displays the Amazon offers. This week marked the peak of that transformation, making every encounter both unforgettable and visually spectacular.

LOOKING AHEAD

With rising waters continuing to reshape the lagoons and forest edges, anglers will need to stay flexible and attentive. Still, this stage of the season brings some of the most visually stunning arapaima of the year, and the coming days promise opportunities as unique as the colors that define them.
